Craft Breweries in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe
Like any great mountain community, Truckee and Lake Tahoe has a flourishing craft brewing scene. So good, in fact, we have four outstanding local breweries with multiple locations to visit. Our skilled local brewers craft lagers, ales, sours, porters, stouts and everything in between, including seasonal and barrel-aged brews.
Truckee’s first craft brewery, opened in 2007 by husband and wife team Andy and Alicia Barr, FiftyFifty Brewing Co.’s Truckee Pub & Pilot Brewery is on Old Brockway Road at The Rock. The pub serves all the year-round and seasonal brews, plus a great dining menu of pub-inspired plates and local favorites.
Tahoe Mountain Brewing Company was opened by founder and owner Aaron Bigelow in 2012 and focused on experimentation in the brewery and a barrel-aging cellar. The Tahoe City Brewpub location sits directly across the street from Lake Tahoe, featuring eight rotating taps and a menu full of traditional delicious American cuisine. The dog-friendly Brewery and Taproom, near downtown Truckee on Pioneer Trail, has 15 taps and wide selection of styles.
Alibi Ale Works was founded in 2014 by Kevin Drake and Rich Romo. The production brewery and taproom is in Incline Village. In 2017, Alibi opened the Truckee Public House in downtown Truckee. The Public House features 24 taps, frequent live music and a small but high-quality food menu.
Truckee Brewing Company is the newest member of the group, having just opened in May of 2018 by owner Dustin Hurley and master brewer Adam Lundy. Also located on Pioneer Trail near downtown Truckee, the new brewery has 10 beers on tap and offers gourmet pretzel rolls and Stromboli from neighboring Sierra Bakehouse.
Even if you can’t make it to any of our excellent craft breweries, most have regional distribution or can be found in many local restaurants and bars. Cheers!
